Dodgers and Angels battle of LA

The NL West-leading Los Angeles Dodgers open a three-game set against crosstown rival Los Angeles Angels on Friday (10:05 pm ET, FSW).
Chad Billingsley will start for the Dodgers while Joe Saunders will counter for the Angels.

Billingsley, a righthander, has a 2.72 ERA and a 9-3 W/L record this season. His last start came Sunday when he pitches seven innings in a 6-3 win over the Texas Rangers.
Lefty Saunders has a 3.66 ERA and a 7-4 W/L record. His last start was last Saturday when he nearly went the distance - pitching 8 1/3 innings - in a 9-1 romp over the San Diego Padres.
The second game of the series on Saturday will feature a brother-against-brother duel, as Jeff Weaver will take the mound for the Dodgers against his younger brother Jered of the Angels.

Jeff, now used primarily as a middle reliever by the Dodgers, is 3-1 with a 3.72 ERA in 29 innings. Jered is one of the hottest pitchers in either league, boasting a 7-2 record in more than 90 innings of work with a 2.08 ERA.
The Angels have six of the past 10 meetings with the Dodgers, and six of the meetings have gone under the total.

The LA rivals last squared off in a three-game set on May 22 to 24, with the Angels winning the rubber match 10-7.
